Faced with personal health challenges in her twenties and a health care system that was dismissive\, Dr. Taz turned to nutrition\, homeopathy and Eastern medical wisdom for answers. What she found was a wealth of information not yet taught in conventional medical schools. \nPassionate to share this new knowledge\, she opened hol+ (formally CentreSpringMD) in Atlanta\, a nationally recognized holistic and integrative medical practice designed to treat the whole family.  Fifteen years later\, Dr. Taz has scaled the practice and opened locations in LA and NYC\, along with an expanded global telehealth platform. A veteran media and television contributor\, she currently serves as a TODAY contributor\, and a FOX5 news expert. Her recent book\, The Hormone Shift\, named by Book Riot as one of “The Best Menopause Books\,” landed at #1 in Amazon’s coveted Best Sellers Ranking List and exploded in popularity garnering worldwide attention. The book is now available in India and Portugal\, with more countries to come\, helping to fuel the growth of her international telehealth business. \nFrom primary care to chronic disease management and specialty care\, Dr. Taz has led the growth of hol+ from a solo provider practice with 2 employees to a multi clinic company with 4 locations and a global telehealth platform with over 50 employees. Dr. Taz’s clinics continue to garner medical awards\, including Best Georgia practice and Atlanta’s Top Doc recognitions. \nIn 2025\, Dr. Taz was named a finalist in the EY Entrepreneurial Winning Women™ North America. Founded by Dr. Taz\, hol+ is the first full-service holistic health destination structured by clinical research\, but guided by the patient experience to address the 10 foundational pillars of personal and family health through an integrative multidimensional model. The hol+ platform includes an integrative medicine telehealth platform\, a holistic medicine YouTube show and podcast\, community memberships and a range of products – all to help tackle the health issues families face today and chart a path forward\, the holistic way. SUMMARY:2024 Giving Tuesday
DESCRIPTION:Prevent Blindness Georgia is on a mission to protect the gift of sight for everyone in our community. For 60 years\, we’ve been a lifeline for children struggling to see the board at school\, adults unable to afford eye exams\, and seniors at risk of losing their independence due to vision loss. Every dollar we raise helps us provide free vision screenings\, critical eye care services\, and life-changing eye health education programs. \nGiving Tuesday is a global day of giving. In the United States\, it takes place on the first Tuesday after the Thanksgiving holiday. This day is a global movement of generosity and impact! \nBy donating\, you’re not just giving the gift of sight—you’re opening doors to brighter futures\, better education\, and healthier lives. Together\, we can prevent blindness and ensure that no one faces the world in darkness. \nPlease consider making your own gift and share our critical sight-preserving mission with your community. Your generosity will help countless Georgians see a clearer tomorrow. \nDonate Today!\n  \n

She received her undergraduate degree in anthropology from Princeton University before moving on to medical school at the Duke University Medical School. Prior to medical school\, she served as a Teaching Fellow at Harvard University. She then returned to Florida for both her Ophthalmology Residency and her Retina Fellowship at the prestigious Bascom Palmer Eye Institute\, which has consistently ranked as the top eye hospital in the country for the past 22 years. Dr. Vanderveldt has found her home in Georgia working at Georgia Retina. \nDr. Vanderveldt chose a career in medicine because she wanted to make a difference in people’s lives. She selected her specialty because she loves restoring sight to people. “Ophthalmology\, and particularly Retina\, is a rare specialty that allows a physician to be both a surgeon healing people in the operating room and also a medical doctor who sees people and treats them in the clinic. I get to see some of my patients every month for years\, and that fosters a very special bond\,” Dr. Vanderveldt notes. \nTo read more about Dr. Vanderveldt – click here! \n\n \n	\n\n	\n \n We are thrilled to recognize our 2024 Georgia Visionary: \nChef G. Garvin\nRestaurateur\, Culinary and Hospitality Consulting Specialist\, and Chief Culinary Advisor for SodexoMAGIC. Chef Garvin started his culinary career at the age of 13 in his hometown\, Atlanta Georgia. Within 3 years\, he was working at the Ritz Carlton-Downtown as the youngest line cook working with German Chef Vulker Shupp. He would later move to Palm Springs\, California working under Chef Jean Pierre Dubray at the Ritz Carlton-Rancho Mirage. \nAs his culinary career continued to show promise\, Garvin relocated to Los Angeles\, California\, where his career evolved from Sous Chef to Executive Chef\, to eventually opening his own catering & events company and signature restaurant. He continued to make a name for himself\, and within a short span of time\, make the leap to TV with his “Turn Up the Heat with G. Garvin” show. After 7 seasons\, 3 books\, and numerous accolades\, his increasing popularity would lead to shows on the Cooking Channel\, the Travel Channel\, and his first James Beard Award nomination. \nGarvin can now be seen as a special guest on Good Morning America\, or on Food Network alongside hosts such as Guy Fieri. He has also opened numerous restaurants in Atlanta through his “LowCountry Restaurants” brand and is actively working to educate and inspire the next generation of culinary professionals with his “G Garvin Culinary and Hospitality Foundation”. \nThrough Garvin’s efforts\, he hopes to aid in breaking down the diversity barriers within not only the cooking industry but in society as a whole where chefs of color are often categorized more often by race than a profession. \n\n \n	\n\n	\n \n \n \n \n	\nDonate Today!\n  \n\n	\n \n \n \n	\nA Big Thank You to Our Amazing Silent Auction donors\n1885 Grill – Acworth \nAmerican Axes \nAmore e Amore  \nAtlanta Hawks \nAtlanta Symphony Orchestra  \nAtlanta Tours | Atlanta Food and History Tours – Unexpected Atlanta \nAtrium \nBeat the Bomb Atlanta \nBooth Western Art Museum \nF&B Atlanta  \nLe Colonial  \nLet’s Roam – Scavenger Hunts  \nMichael C.
