His distinguished career reflects a lifelong commitment to preserving and restoring vision across northeast Georgia and beyond. \nDr. Chapman earned his Bachelor of Science\, Cum Laude\, from the University of Georgia in 1975\, followed by a Doctor of Optometry\, Cum Laude\, from the Southern College of Optometry in Memphis in 1981. He subsequently earned his Doctor of Medicine from the Medical College of Georgia in 1988\, completing his transitional internship and ophthalmology residency at the Medical College of Georgia Hospital through 1992. He has maintained board certification through the American Board of Ophthalmology since 1995\, with most recent recertification in 2025. \nThroughout his career\, Dr. Chapman has maintained surgical affiliations at Northeast Georgia Medical Center\, the Gainesville Eye Center\, Union General Hospital\, and Erlanger Western Carolina Medical Center\, among others — bringing specialty eye care to patients across a broad rural and suburban region. \nA dedicated advocate for community health\, Dr. Chapman has served in leadership roles at both the state and national level. He served as President of the Medical Association of Georgia (2007–2008) and as President of the Medical Association of Georgia Foundation (2014–2024). He has also served on the Board of Directors of the Global Partnership for Telemedicine\, the Georgia Department of Community Health\, the Georgia Medical Care Foundation\, and the Georgia Chamber of Commerce\, among many others. \nDr. Chapman’s passion for eliminating preventable blindness makes him a natural and enthusiastic partner of Prevent Blindness Georgia.
